Goolwa Primary School has served students from Goolwa and district since 1875. At the completion of Year 7 most students continue their school at Victor Harbor High School and a few go to Mt. Compass area school.
Goolwa Primary School was substantially rebuilt a decade ago. All classrooms including the library, computing suites and activity room, are air-conditioned, carpeted, bright and well maintained.
The teaching and support staff is outstanding, with a mix of experienced and younger teachers and ancillary staff. All are enthusiastic about the school and wish to remain at Goolwa Primary School. Staff cohesion is a feature of the school. With that ethos, school programmes have a positive impact on our students.
Children at Goolwa Primary School come from a range of backgrounds. This is regarded as a great strength, enabling children to learn respect, tolerance and the valuing of individual differences.
With school numbers between 300-350, the school is small enough for teachers, children and parents to build strong relationships with one another. It’s also big enough to have a breadth of programmes to meet children’s needs. The Goolwa Primary School also focuses on further areas such as Priorities, Literacy and Numeracy, Environmental Education, Computing, Performing and Visual Arts, Cultural Studies, Student Well-Being, Sports and Physical Activity, Out of hours care (GOSHC), Breakfast Club, Volunteers and Community Involvement, School Governance, Student Organisation Committee, and Values.
