History of Bottecchia's Bike Manufacture Business 1926- Ottavio Bottecchia starts manufacturing racing bikes based on his win of Tour de France knowledge 1926 - 1930 After his death the family carried on with the business until 1930 when it was bought by the famous Carnielli family 1930- 1997 The Carnielli family makes Bottecchia a houselhold name in Europe and starts exporting to the US with great success. 1973 - Produces the worlds first folding bike, which was successful in Europe 1997 - Bottecchia acquired by the Turato family who have had two generations of history in bike manufacture (Cicli Esperia) 2006 - Bottecchia sells over 50,000 bikes throughout Europe and looks to expand outside of Europe 2006- Bottecchia appoints exclusive distributors in Australia and New Zealand
