ADELAIDE HILLS VISITOR INFORMATION CENTRE
Found in the German settlement town of Hahndorf, this centre is right in the middle of the area's colonial history, scenic beauty and wineries. The site of the first German settlers in Australia and exported Australian wine gives this area a unique resonance.
The staff at the Hardorf visitor information centre can help with lists of local accommodation and wineries, and give information on places to visit. Ask about walking trails in the area's national parks and conservation parks. Do not miss Mount Lofty Botanic Garden, Cleland Wildlife Park or the Warrawong Sanctuary for endangered Australian wildlife.
Travelling through the immediate countryside you can easily find the local wineries and tour wider to the Barossa Valley and the Southern Vales, cruise the River Murray and explore the southern coast beaches.
Adelaide city is a 30 minute expressway drive, so if you are here for business, treat yourself to country accommodation and easily commute to the CBD.
Take the time to investigate the Adelaide Hills and seek out nature reserves, ornamental gardens, bushland, antique shops, local produce and crafts, historical sites, wineries and public gardens, as well as the events, markets and festivals.
