The Alexandrina Library Service is a highly valued, community asset. It strives to deliver high quality, customer focused information and library services which enrich the lives of people within our community.
The overall service covers an area of some 1827 square kilometres and a population in excess of 20,000.
The Alexandrina Library Service lends over 250,000 items, excluding school materials, to approximately 11,000 borrowers across the region each year. It has a total stock of over 49,500 items.
In addition to loans, the libraries are used extensively for Internet access and training, personal computing, reference, research, local history and genealogy, stories and crafts for children, storytelling for the aged, as well as being great social gathering places for residents, volunteers and visitors.
The Service comprises of a Library and Customer Service Centre at Goolwa, a Community Library at Strathalbyn and Library Depots at Milang, Mount Compass and Port Elliot. Library materials are also delivered to the homes of people who are physically unable to visit one of our service points.
