ELIZABETH SPECIAL SCHOOL
Elizabeth Special School was established in 1966.
It is a Special School catering for students with an intellectual disability from R-10 and for students with severe multiple disabilities R-12. It is located between Elizabeth City Centre and Elizabeth North on the edge of Rosewood Village, South Australia.
Elizabeth Special School currently has two annex classes located in the Brahma Lodge Primary School and one in Broadmeadows Primary School.
Recent years have seen a significant increase in the number of students enrolled at the school and future options are under review.
Elizabeth Special School is a community in which all students, independent of the intensity of disability, are offered educational programs, which encourage learning, independence and social skills. Staff and parent / caregivers work together in an environment of mutual respect to facilitate the physical, social and emotional development of each student. We work towards each student becoming confident in their abilities and achievement to participate as fully as possible in their next level of schooling / community.
The core business of Elizabeth Special School is to provide learning programs that are well planned, relevant and realistic within the guidelines of DECS curriculum frameworks and priorities, and which take into account individual learning needs. Policies and procedures are in place, regularly monitored and evaluated to ensure resources are allocated and managed to enable us to implement the above.
