S.A. Crate Pty Ltd was established in 1977 due to the need for a better and cheaper container to market apples and pears. The concept of a plastic crate (36 litre) utilised within a crate exchange system was born.

Over the past twenty years the company has become a leader in materials handling, particularly for apples and pears. Single layer trays, 22 litre, 36 litre and 84 litre crates and a wide range of full and half bins now give S.A. Crate Pty Ltd a near complete range of plastic containers for every commodity and situation.

As a grower owned company that understands and quickly adapts its operation to suit specific and often unique needs of the horticultural industries, S.A. Crate Pty Ltd has been able to expand the customer base from the apple and pear industry to now embrace grapes, stonefruit, cherries, nuts, strawberries, vegetables and the food processing industries.

This business, previously owned by Bob and Margaret Osmond, is an established component of the wholesale marketing system within Adelaide. These new activities compliment the previous and continuing activities of S.A. Crate Pty Ltd.
